Looking for a fresh challenge, Dan moved from karts to cars. The Mazda MX5 Championship was one of the most competitive and affordable championships around with huge grids. It was a steep learning curve as Dan and Steve had to develop the car with very little mechanical experience. Determination ultimately started to pay off, and by 2013 Dan had finally produced a car that was capable of getting podium finishes. Good results followed and Dan became a regular top 5 finisher. 2014 was the first time in 13 years which Dan wasn't actively competing in Motorsport. Instead Dan chose to try a few of the rarer trackdays at circuits which he wasn’t able to race at, such as Spa and Nurburgring.
The regular trackdays exposed Dan to the options available for modifying the Mazda to make it more fun to drive when you're not restricted by the Championship regulations of the MX5 Championship. At the start of 2015 the decision was made to take the leap of faith and modify the car for use in other championships; CSCC and 750 Motor Club. This presented a new challenge with longer 40 minute sprint races, and a compulsory pit stop. Dan will be sharing the driving with Rhys Jenkins in both championships.

Steve Rogers

"Pictured here looking very busy at the track, my Dad has always been an essential part of my racing and without his support we'd never have achieved all the results. In recent years as my knowledge of the cars developed he's not had to sacrifice so many hours working on the car which I think he is relieved about!"

Rhys Jenkins

"We have a very similar, almost identical, background in racing. I met Rhys when I was 10, and we progressed through karts and cars together. Rhys then sold his MX-5 in 2014 to buy a Westfield which we take out on trackdays still. We kept my MX-5 as the race car and he shares the driving with me in the CSCC and 750 Motor Club championships."
